Wassa ("we", "our", "us") operates the Wassa mobile application — a local services marketplace connecting homeowners and businesses with skilled artisans in Cameroon.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and your rights over it. By using Wassa, you agree to the practices described here.

We collect only what is necessary to operate the marketplace. The table below details every data type we handle:

* Only collected if you choose to sign in with Google. WhatsApp-only users never provide an email address.

To authenticate your identity securely via WhatsApp OTP or Google Sign-In
To display your profile — name, city, and trade — to other users of the marketplace
To operate the task and application system that connects seekers with artisans
To detect and fix crashes and improve app performance through Firebase Crashlytics
To understand which features are used so we can improve the product (Firebase Analytics)
To allow artisans to build a verified reputation through client reviews

Who We Share Data With

We share data only where necessary to provide the service:

Other Wassa users — your public profile (name, city, service category, reviews) is visible to users browsing or posting tasks in your city. Your phone number is only shared with a seeker after you are accepted for their task.
Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. Data is stored in secure, encrypted cloud infrastructure.
Google Firebase — crash reports (Crashlytics) and anonymous usage analytics (Analytics). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS / TLS connections
Database access is controlled by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies — you can only read data you are authorised to see
Authentication tokens are stored securely on-device and are never transmitted in plain text
We do not store passwords — authentication is handled via OTP or OAuth (Google)

Payments

Wassa does not process any payments within the app. Artisans display an indicative base fee on their profile. All financial transactions happen directly and offline between the service seeker and the artisan. We have no access to, and do not store, any payment or banking information.

Children's Privacy

Wassa is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Access — you can view all data associated with your account within the app at any time
Correction — you can edit your profile, tasks, and listings at any time
Deletion — you may request full account deletion by contacting us; we will remove your personal data within 30 days
Portability — you may request an export of the data we hold about you
Opt-out of analytics — contact us to disable analytics tracking for your account

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify users through the app. Continued use of Wassa after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
